NEWS: New Corsica Multipitch for Hansjörg Auer and Much Mayr

Le Petit Prince, 8a, 400m, 3 kbAustrian climbers Hansjörg Auer and Much Mayr have opened a new multipitch route named Le Petit Prince (8a, 400m) up the West Face of Capu Cascioni in Corsica. The pair spent one day opening the route, two days practising it and then made the first free ascent last Friday.

The Cascioni is big crag easily accessed from Porto & Ota via the lesser of the 2 rivers coming down to Deux Ponts.
Makes a fine objective given the nearby big routes on Capo d Ortu group.
Some big routes going up on the Granite Island at the moment - Carlos Ascensao & his mate Jeff have opened a massive route U pesciu d’Aprile in a very hidden valley on the west side of the Popolasca massif, well away from the mainstream climbing venues. The route is 920m meter long, 7b Oblig - 8a max , and the pair spent 4 days on the face.
