I recently bought a cannon 1200 D and am looking to get a lense ranging from about 15-220 or something like that for an expedition. I know nothing really about lenses so not sure exactly what to look for. Can people recommend what type/make of lens might be best and where best to look (ideally second hand as tight for funds). Many thanks

a pal of mine has a sigma 18 to 250 (or maybe 200) which he reckons is magic

Good reviews for lenses on here. Whenever I looked at buying second hand lenses online they were often more expensive than the new versions on Digital Rev! I'm sure you could get a better deal for a private sale, I think there are a few threads about buying used lenses on ebay if you search.
