Anyone know what tv station, if any, is televising the hour attempt on Sunday ?
Thanks all

I think Euro sport (They did the Dowsett and Sarah Storey attempts)

Sky sports 2 - sadly

As much as I love watching cycling on TV, I can't say I have any desire to watch the hour record all the way through. I find that its the sort of thing that works better seeing updates on Twitter while laying in the hammock

You could sign up for the online Eurosport player to watch it though - I think I'm going to do that now that there's going to be a lot of cycling on and I can't get my satellite dish working

I'm flying Barcelona on Sunday, any Spanish residents know if I might be able to watch it in a bar anywhere.

Have heard it's going to be on freeview - Pick ? Not sure what channel that is

Apparently Hugh Porter is doing the commentary, at Wiggins request ! Nice touch, and for once Porter will be able to correctly identify all the riders taking part.

BTW A 15 minute TV version of Bespoke appeared on the BBC iplayer last night and was well worth watching. Managed to include mountain biking (downhill with Rachel Atherton), road cycling (Fred Whitton sportive) and track (advice from Dr Hutch - when you get to a corner, turn left).

In reply to Chris the Tall:

Cheers for that! Indeed the Sky program appear to be being shown on freeview PICK.

It's on Sky 2, not Sky Sports, so free to view if you can get that channel.

Go Wiggins!
In reply to ACollins:

Why are they showing us twitter quotes. If I wanted to read peoples pointless twitter drivel I'd be looking at twitter not my TV.

It'd have to be a very short tt for me to average 54kph!

More vertical than downhill if we're being honest!

In reply to Newbuild100:

Bollocks - I thought it was starting at 7.30 ! Mind you a man riding round and round.....

Pleased he's broken the record, but oddly also pleased that the conditions were against him and knocked him down by a km. gives Dowsett the chance to get in another try. Problem for him is that it doesn't fit in with his other aims - apparently he currently losing weight and trying to make the Movistar team for the tour. I know wiggo's next goal is Rio, but I don't think that precludes another go. Great to see two Brits vying for this record again

Did snake pass, traffic free, last Thursday and my max speed was 58 kph ! Ok I'm a nervous descender, but nonetheless

In reply to Newbuild100:

Impressive stuff and surprisingly watchable....

Can someone explain to me the difference between Wiggins record and Boardmans best human effort.

I thought it was something to do with the bike, but Wiggo has a state of the art bike?

Ta
 Greasy Prusiks 07 Jun 2015
In reply to JamButty:

Yeah it was. Basically boardmans record was on an unregulated bike so its much faster. Wiggins competed on a bike that conforms to new UCI standards which effectively mean you end up with a slower bike.
In reply to Newbuild100:

Channel 5 have just reported he did 54.526 MPH. Good effort!

Really you'd think they would check the basic facts wouldn't you.

He did - in the car on the way there.

Anyone know where there's an on-line recording?

With a tail wind
 PM 08 Jun 2015
In reply to Welsh Kate:

Not sure if there's an online recording. If you can't find one you can probably pretty accurately simulate what happened with the cheapest Scalextric set.

I think my favourite bit was that 423rd corner - I did NOT expect that! Luckily Wiggo had obviously studied the course, and handled it well.

Err it's Channel 5.

In reply to ACollins:
>"Basically boardmans record was on an unregulated bike so its much faster."

To be fair, his bike did comply with the regulations as they stood.
In reality there was no real diffrence between the Boardman and Wiggins bikes. It was only the position of the handlebar (developed by Obree) that gave Boardman a significant aero advantage. It was purely down to the UCI (fifa style) cabal not liking what it saw that saw the record struck off retro spectively. In the same way the Tony Rominger record has been sidelined for the unproven but highly likely correct assumption it was EPO assisted.

In reply to JLS:

Yeah it's typical of the UCI to change their mind see overshoes ect. The superman position was the main factor but I think not having a diamond frame and being allowed tri spokes made some difference.
