My road bike has a 11/32 rear cassette on and a Shimano 105 rear gear, "medium" cage.

I want to play about with the gears and put on a 11/23 cassette.

Question is, would I need to change the rear mech to a shorter cage at all ?
(And I guess, shorten the chain )

Thanks folks

The current cage & chain length copes with a 23 (ish) sprocket in the range of your current 11/32 cassette so it should work if the 23 is largest sprocket.

It'll be fine, chain length wise you could drop a link but no real need to unless you feel the chain is slapping around on the 11t end.

You will need a new chain though if you weren't aware otherwise old one will disproportionately wear the new cassette.
