I've been lending a mate my winter bike so he can get used to riding a modern road bike, before buying one. Anyway, he has asked me if I would like to sell him that bike. I might do and put the money towards a CX.

I haven't got a clue what it's worth. It's a 5 year old Cannondale Synapse with 9 speed Tiagra throughout r500 wheels. Only 'upgrades' reflect it's winter focus, it's running 28mm and race blades.

My guess is not a huge amount.

Take this as you will but, HMRC considers a five year old bicycle to be essentially worthless:

£150 to £230 according completed listings on eBay.

As I thought, worth more to me than it is worth to anyone else. Not really worth selling, as I would have to replace. I think I will let him borrow it for a bit longer and decide then if I really NEED a CX bike.
