Kenton Cool to attempt new line on Indian Peak, 3 kb

Sherpa Adventure Gear athlete Kenton Cool along with a strong team of fellow mountaineers Martin Moran, Mark Thomas, Tom Coney and Dave Morton are due to attempt a new line on the East summit of Nanda Devi. Sunanda Devi is the East summit of the Indian Giant Nanda Devi.

The peak is situated on the edge of the mythical “Nanda Devi Sanctuary” which is part of the Nanda Devi National Park and is a World Heritage Site. Standing at a height of 7434 meters Sunanda Devi is one of India's biggest and most challenging peaks with only the 1939 Polish route via the Long Staff col and the Indo/French expedition in 1975 as established and verified routes.

The team intends to attempt the East North East Ridge, which will involve a huge height gain of around 3000 meters (photo below).

Kenton Cool leaves this week to meet up with the rest of the team who are currently in India and is due back in mid October.
