Will they be providing razor blades for the new Theme by Sam Smith on the opening of Spectre?

I don't understand.

In reply to The Lemming:

Yes, I was a bit disappointed at the choice also, Adele was a good choice as contemporary but with a classic sound. Time for a thread for best and worst Bond themes. What is your favorite?

Worst: Madonna - Die Another Day, no question.

Best: Goldfinger. Chris Cornell's on Casino Royale was my favourite modern one.

I didn't like Adele's one. Well produced but as always wither her songs absolutely dire backing vocals.

Only heard half of the new one this morning but wasn't too impressed.

I also like Carly Simon's.

Aye, Chris Cornell's was a cracker. You Know My Name.
In reply to The Lemming:

Heard a snippet of it earlier, said to my workmate "That sounds like Earth Song by MJ!" two seconds later the presenter said the same. Me and Radcliffe are on the same wavelength!

Chris cornells was a cracker, but then I do love me a bit of soundgarden so the dude can do no wrong in my eyes.

Hope my ears never have to suffer it tbh, is he still withering on about that 'the one that got away' or is he singing about something else for a change.

Not a good omen really.

The only bad Bond theme songs were the 3 worst films - Die Another Day, Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough.

The last 3 songs haven't been bad, not the all time best, but a Bond theme needs a good tune, well sung (most of them are belted out by great singers) and good words. Adele's was a good tune, and she sings well, but the words were a bit lost. The one sung by Chris Cornell wasn't bad - and a good choice of lyrics given it was a reboot. Jack White sang well, with a good tune and good lyrics - if anything the only downside of his is that it's sung by a man.

I reckon Lana Del Ray could have knocked out a good song, or Paloma Faith.

Terrible choice of artist and song. No where near powerful enough to sign a bond song.

Should have been Shirley bassey for a forth time surely?

In reply to The Lemming:

Well, the track has made it to Number One.

So, that's me wrong again, as quite a few like the song.

And, it's the first Bond theme to make the top slot.
In reply to The Lemming: Given some of the tracks on her last album I thought that Caro Emerald might get the gig for the Bond tune, and I think the producers have missed a trick by not asking her. Next time, maybe.

Well, there's yet more proof that sales are subject to hype and don't reflect real quality.

I didn't think Die Another Day was that bad.

> I reckon Lana Del Ray could have knocked out a good song, or Paloma Faith.

Take it you haven't heard Paloma's "attempt" at World In Union for the rugby, then - I'd hate to hear her try a Bond song.

Heard Sam Smith on the radio - thought it was a great Bond song in keeping with the tradition. Then he started singing

Which do you think is the third worse?

No, but I have heard her cover of INXS's Never Tear Us Apart

> Heard Sam Smith on the radio - thought it was a great Bond song in keeping with the tradition. Then he started singing

Exactly
