Tree at start of Bifur - Eagle Rock - Goblin Combe

Does anyone know why the tree at the start of Bifur at Eagle rock has been cut down? Goblin CombeBifur (VS 4b)

The one that's up on the rock that you pass? Did this the other week, nice climb, can't remember the tree at the start. Perhaps I was too late...

If memory serves, the tree is the first reliable gear you get so hope some of it remains.

That's a shame. It was the perfect coat hanger.

I'd like to know WHY this tree was cut down as it was perfectly healthy, well established and had no effects on the climbs behind it.
