Planning an Expedition to Kyrgyzstan to Pik Lenin and then new routing in the region. Looking for advice on best maps of the region for Alpinists. Thanks in advance.

Google Earth is best. Then find a good agent and see if they can get you where you want to go. ITMC or Ak Sai should be able to do what is doable. Cross reference sources like the AJ and AAJ with peak names and reports from the MEF etc. to see what has been climbed more recently.

You can look at the old Soviet maps at http://loadmap.net but they won't give you any idea of modern access. Maps like this http://www.cordee.co.uk/Kyrgyzstan-det-15-96-279-3305.html and this http://www.amazon.com/The-Pamirs-Markus-Hauser/dp/3906593355 ( http://www.pamirs.org/maps.htm ) are nice but not very detailed for climbing.
