Ueli Steck Speed Climb Ice Axes

Anyone notice the axes Ueli's was using for his new Eiger speed record? Looked like a cross between a quark and a nomic.

Must be the axes (or similar too) in the video below with a lightweight shaft (1.40).

Would be interested to know how much they weight.

Considering he promotes nomics as the best axes ever, I think I've only seen him use quarks (or similar too) for any speed records.

He is a very impressive climber though, I'm sure he'd get to the top with a pair of kitchen forks

Some of the stuff is one-off production/tweaked by him - need to get Ueli to answer!!

The ice axes Killian Jornet used on Denali last year are pretty sweet - a custom made carbon fibre thing.
