Castle Rock - Thirlmere. Update on rock movement
The recently formed cracks on the upper left hand side of the North crag continue to be monitored. We now have four cycles annual cycles of movement recorded from the one gauge installed and the picture is clear, movement is continuous and progressive. The crack at the crag top is almost big enough now to climb into. The vertical crack on the north side facing Blencathra (above Matheson Avenue) is visibly much wider.
