Can someone confirm what finger tape is even used for!? I have had people tell me multiple answers.. Is it to protect damage skin? To reduce tendons being damaged? Or and act to support your fingers? ... or maybe just a bit of everything :P

Novice question, Apologies!
In reply to swifty:

Mix of everything. Really meant to support vulnerable fingers but doubles well as a way to wrap up flappers and carry on as well as offer protection to hands skin on Yosemite granite!

I use it (mainly) for...

1) Protecting my skin in jamming cracks.
2) Protecting my skin from abrasive plastic holds while doing endurance training.
3) As sticking plaster over damaged skin.
4) Support to injured finger joints.

I use it to support iffy pulleys in my fingers.

Apparently, preventative taping in this way is a bad thing as it stops the affected part getting stronger. After 30 years of experimentation, my considered view is that preventative taping stops my fingers going 'ping'.

The crucial part is no-stretch tape that really sticks. As far as I am aware, le Strappal is the only one that is both of these things.

Strappal Sport has been rebranded as Dream Tape - same stuff, new name
