Currently getting sporadic intermittent sharp pain in groin which is temporarily disabling to the extent I have to 'fall off' when climbing. This can occur after proper warm up and stretches and an hour into a session. It eases off within 20 minutes... so far. Associated with this is a tingling/ burning sensation down the front of the quad. I don't get this when swimming, running or cycling but some particular move when climbing just seems to catch a nerve.

Has anyone experienced similar symptoms and crucially how did you 'recover'?

I had to google it - but yes, sounds a lot less pleasant than what I was thinking about.

Reads more of a femoral or associated nerve problem/irritation in the thigh itself rather than from the back but it's very difficult to diagnose this over the net. But if it was back or joint related you would expect the running or cycling to also aggravate it. If you don't get any back problems you could try massage and stretching the relevant areas of the thigh eg quads or groin, otherwise frequency of training and the types of moves that aggravate it are worth considering and modifying. The sensible thing to do would be to get it checked out by a decent physio.

Cheers! I had a couple of osteopath sessions which seemed to help. Trying to do more stretching. Currently out skiing for a while and so far no worse. The real proof may be when i get back climbing and doing rockover type moves.

Interesting. Sorry I would have expected someone to mention 'rockover' in the OP which just goes to show how one shouldn't assume and to be careful about what you read on internet forums! Problems rocking over only suggest a hip issue rather than a nerve entrapment primarily, interesting to to hear the outcome.
