Hi Guys,

I was just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the best compact camera for taking on climbing adventures.

I'm wanting something that can take on mountain days that can also take a good photo!

In your title you say 'compact system' and in your post you say 'compact camera'.

Are you after a compact camera or a compact system camera or aren't you sure?
You can take both on mountain days and you can get great photos with both types.

Compact Camera System = CSC = Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens = MIL = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirrorless_interchangeable-lens_camera

Compact = Compact = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point-and-shoot_camera

Some compacts are not quite so point and shoot and have many manually adjustable settings allowing a degree of artistic control.

Desire to learn more about photography and Budget will possibly come into your choice.

You should consider the Fuji mirrorless system, well built and stunning lenses.

As far as I know, smallest (usable) camera with changeable lenses is Panasonic GM5 (but wait for the GM7 that is promised for the spring). With a 14 or 17mm pancake it's rather small (35mm FOV would be 28 or 34mm).

For a non changeable lens camera, Panasonic LX100 and Sony RX IV are most likely the options to look for. Not much more compact than the GM5(or hopefully the GM7), main difference is naturally no protruding lens.
