Looking for suggestions/recommendations of companies/individuals that provide winter mountaineering training.

I'll be staying in Onich between Feb 27th and 5th March and would be looking for 2 or 3 days tuition. I've a little winter climbing experience - seconded a few grade 2 routes and my mate doesn't have any but can rock climb.

Any suggestions?

Rob Johnson or Hue Gilbert at www.expeditionguide.com. Both really nice guys, amazing MIC's and excellent instructors'.

alec roberts is a great guy- very skilled, patient and humorous. hauled me around the northern corries a few years ago for some avalanche awareness stuff and my first winter route:

i can also recommend ian and nathan, although i've only climbed multi pitch rock routes with them. i'd certainly trust them for some winter activity too though. excellent guys with top attitudes and skills:

I've been out with Nathan when he was an aspirant MIC. Had a good time despite the miserable weather.

whoever you choose make sure your instructor is suitably qualified for your chosen activity - ie hold the MIC for Winter Mountaineering and climbing.

I can also recommend Alec Roberts, he guided me on my first winter outing a few years ago, he's very good.

I would also put in an honourable mention to Sam Leary, although she didn't teach me to climb in winter, she did teach me trad though and I believe she teaches winter courses too. She is an outstanding teacher and I cannot recommend her enough. If you google Sam Leary climbing you'll find her easy enough.
