Hi folks. What do folk think is the best iPhone map app for the French Alps....or chamonix area specifically?

The cheaper the better!

Cheers

I've used Outdoors France which uses the French IGN maps. I live in the southern French Alps and I've found it pretty accurate when I've used it (although admittedly not much).

Search for Iphigenie on the app store. You need to pay a subscription (annual or monthly) to use cached maps but you can cancel them at any time so buy the monthly sub before you go and cancel it when you get back. Alternatively, it's free for 7 days so costs nothing if you are going for a short trip.

Hi,
This webpage might work if you have a data connection

Try OfflineMaps (or ad free version OffLine Maps +). You can get lots of free maps, including outddor ones, and it allows you to browse and download and cache maps so you dont need a connection all the time.

ViewRanger is alos good and allows you to download the French IGN maps, but you need to have subscription. which is about £15 a year.
