Can anyone recommend the best trail in/near Bristol

Not overly expert on the area and will depend on what sort of riding you like. However obvious starting candidate would be Ashton Court.
Look Bristol Trail Group for some other routes.

Ashton court and leigh woods are easy, relatively flat and good fun. Mostly Blue but with one decent length of red in Ashton Court and a small skills loop in leigh woods. It's where i head for a quick blast when in Bristol. If you want something a bit more spicy, there are other areas nearby. Have a look on the Pedal Progression website for some links to info on some other sites.

Interested in longish red runs ideally, but don't mind sessioning shorter/ easier runs

Hey, come across the bridge to south Wales. We have tons of natural trails, free parking and epic descents.

Mbuk had a longish red route called the Bristol beast if you can find that on t'internet, it takes in the Ashton court routes and a trail in the hundred acre wood
