I've recently returned from walking up the north side having previously climbed Esperon Central on the south side.

I've always pronounced "Puig" as it looks, but was getting blank stares from my Spanish companions.

The correct pronunciation sounds something like "putch"

A tip for anyone talking to the Spanish! Could be a problem if you were unfortunate enough to be in a situation where you had to call for rescue........

I just said "pooj", and I wasn't the only one, but didn't talk to any Spanish about it.

But how does it look to an English speaker? Pew-ig or Pweeg or whatever?

It looks like "Pweeg" to me

Puig is Catalan (called Valencian in those parts) for hill. The English word "pooch" is probably the closest to the correct Catalan pronunciation.

I reckon I was close enough then.
