I'm heading to Norway in June and I'm exploring various options of where to go and even what to do. I am travelling solo so I have been looking at hiking around Otta (Jotunheimen and Rondane) but I have just seen the Romsdal area and it looks amazing. Can anyone recommend a three to four day outing in the area?. What map to get?. I might even be persuaded to do some Alpine style outings if anyone is looking for a partner. The Troll wall would be a bit beyond me

I was there last year but can't recommend any walking routes as we were climbing but the guidebook does describe some walks in the area.

Regarding maps, this one covers the immediate area at 1:25,000

but the area covered is very small, about 16x22km so you'd walk off the map pretty quickly.

Alternatively this map covers a much bigger area but at 1:100,000

I don't think there's a 1:50,000 map of that specific area

If you go to Romsdal, concentrate on the smaller, gentler things like the Romsdalshorn and Bispen if you want some really good single days climbing. Approach the gigantic, loose and serious Trolltindene wall with extreme caution. Have written about,

Thanks for the replies guys. As I say I'm just trying to flesh out a 10 day trip using public transport. So many choices but I think I will give this area a few days and then move south to either Rondane or Jotunheimen. We will see.

You can pick up maps locally no problem when you get there. Any garage for example will usually have a decent range.
