How does the scoring work in completion bouldering?

So what does the score... 3t5 4b6... Actually Mean?

Thanks
Doug

In reply to Doug miller:

t is 'top' meaning a completed boulder
b is 'bonus' meaning a bonus hold has been used.

3t5 means the person topped 3 boulders and took 5 tries to do so
4b6 means the person used 4 bonus holds and took 6 tries to do so.

I think each number is worth more than the next, so 3 tops beats 2 tops, if equal tops then 4 tries beats 5 tries, if equal tries then 4 bonus beats 3 bonus, if equal bonus then 3 tries beats 4 tries. in the event of a draw after that they count back tries from the previous rounds.

Black magic

t stands for Top, which means you held the final hold with both hands 'under control'

b stands for bonus which means you've used the bonus hand hold 'under control' to progress.

The first number is the count of successful holds, the second the number of attempts to achiebe that scoe, on those particular problems, all added together.

So 3t5 means 3 tops but it took 5 attempts to get there, either 1+1+3 or 1+2+2 attempts on those 3 problems.

I think so, yes.

Yes.

1t1 is a flash. This beats 1t2 regardless of how many bonuses are scored.
