Hi, does anyone know what has happened to http://www.maptogps.com/ as it looks like it's been down for a couple of weeks now? I used this site in conjunction with my maps to plot routes and get a rough estimate of distances, etc before saving the route to my gps. Is there an alternative to this which uses OS mapping and that is as user friendly? I've tried a couple but no joy so far!

Try this one. Has a good map which is from OS, but doesn't look quite identical to the OS leisure 1:25k you buy in the shops. Fine for the purpose though.

It calculates your elevation change, Naismith's rule etc. and exports to GPX/KML.

Or

http://wtp2.appspot.com/wheresthepath.htm

But you have to get up early to beat the OS tile server limit. It drops back to historical mapping if the limit is exceeded.
