Hi all,

So, as per the topic title, I'm looking for some inspiration for crags to visit in France towards the end of June. We will most likely have a car.

1. we are a pretty mixed group, so the crags would hopefully accommodate people climbing F5 to F7c routes.

2. As its mid summer - more shade the better!

I realize that a) it will probably be very hot at this time of year b) it will be hard accommodating routes in the lower grades while still having good quailty routes in the 7s b) that this question is quite vague!

Any ideas appreciated.

Cheers.

Ariege? Some higher, shadier options and lots of quality across the grades.

Will be ending in Sete. So basically anywhere - very rough planning at the moment.

Heading for Sete gives a lot of possibilities.

Ferry to San Sebastian then: Basque country > Ariege > Sete
Drive down via Clermont Ferrand: Cantal (Dent de la Rancune) > Gorges du Tarn/Jonte > Sete
Drive down Vallee du Rhone: Bourgogne > Ardeche or Dentelles or Verdon > Sete

Close to Sete there are St Guilhem le Desert and the Caroux which will be OK in June (although the Caroux isn't really sport and St Guilhem isn't really for mixed abilities!)

Auzat in the Ariege would probably fit the bill.

down the rhone, orgon has always enough shade to follow and a central campsite; and enough routes keep everyone happy for a week.
