Hi.
Has anyone got any good ways or techniques of getting rid of lactic acid.
I've just done the three peaks and ran down them all and my legs are in bits.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cold water (ice) bath, rest, gentle exercise? Maybe compression wear.

Being pedantic, I don't think lactic acid is the problem - it flushes from your system quite quickly.

Pork pie (protein)
Pint (pain relief)
Ice bath (painful, relief when you get out)

I'm guessing you can't get someone to give you a massage?

Agree, in humans we get rid of LA pretty quickly.

Its probably micro tears in the muscles. I find light low gear cycling helps.

Massage and yoga to help get the juices flowing, wash all the badness out

cheers for the advice, I think overall fitness and conditioning also is something I need to work on.

I find a very hot bath helps, as hot as I can stand, sit in it, wiggle my legs around. Hot enough so I am sweating.

Which Three Peaks? The proper one or that national one you do most of in a car with Snowdon, Nevis and the other one?

Get yourself a foam roller, or improvise with a large fizzy pop bottle filled with water (just in case of structural failure). Works wonders.

Sounds more like DOMS that you are experiencing. I had it recently following an undulating 10k road race. Incorporate some hill sessions in any run training you do, this will help alleviate your quads killing you post race.

Cheers,
Tony
