Hi,
I bought a pair of La Sportiva Nepal Extreme Evo's a few years back. Since then my foot arches have collapsed and my feet are half a size longer! This means my toes now touch the end of the boots whilst descending, resulting in a couple of black toes this winter.

Rather than spend £400 on a new pair, has anyone tried or would advise stretching the toe box using a rubbing bar or similar?

If it is a sensible option, where could I get this done professionally?

Many Thanks,

Scott

Have you tried getting some footbeds with arch support? Might be a different way of resolving the problem.

I enquired about something similar (stretching across the width) from a couple of professionals and was told that it just isn't possible with modern mountaineering boots of that type as they will just basically return back to shape once the stretching device is removed. It's only really possible with all-leather traditional walking boots. Modern synthetic boots, especially winter B3 winter boots, are made to be solid, stiff and not to deform. Does make sense I suppose.
