Thoughts?

Priorities: all black (work), good battery life, altitude and compass not in need of constant calibration every five minutes, lightweight.

I have a Casio PRW-3000
All black, solar battery (I never need to worry about the battery), cheap, and in terms of altitude, it's usually good for a couple of hours or so (although I could imagine if it was a fast-approaching blizzard it might get out of accuracy very quickly, but then what are you doing there with a fast-approaching blizzard!?)

I've got the prg 270 1aer from casio that's the slimline version of the above. Had it for about two years now and very happy with it. All the above comments plus buttons work with gloves on.

With altitude you have weigh up a barometer based vs gps based. Gps obviously eats battery life. I don't think there are any solar gps mountaineering watches yet.
