Hoping to head to Stanage at the end of the week, have the midges been bad there recently? Occasionally I have an allergic reaction to their bites, so if it's mayhem then I'll either climb in a wetsuit, smother myself in repellent, or maybe head somewhere else
cheers!

I suspect it'll be totally dependent on the wind really. A decent breeze and they'll be next to none, no wind and you'll likely get eaten.

Correct response above. Keep an eye on wind speed and direction. Ideally from the south-west to keep the climber and belayer safe.

None yesterday but then belaying on the top was quite unpleasant with the wind so strong! So as the others said, totally depends on the wind.

They also don't like Sun so if its very sunny you are unlikely to get bothered between about 10 and 5 ish (as long as you are in the sun)

No, they have all drowned.

In reply to DerwentDiluted: Possibly; your user name is also very apt at the moment.
