For a colleague at the BBC who is making a film of how fast a Falcon can dive...

They are hoping to drop a lure off a v big cliff and track the descent of the bird. They are looking for a 500foot+ cliff
.
I told them there are v few cliffs of that height in UK. I'm guessing there might be some whoppers off Scotland (St Johns' Head?) but are there any vertical cliffs in England or Wales that a) are that scale and b) have reasonable access for a film crew to reach both top and bottom and safely travel inbetween?

I'm guessing not and they should head to Canary Wharf (770 foot) instead

In reply to Owen W-G:

They are better off using a hot air balloon, or travel to Europe. The only one i can think off is Twll Mawr, which probably wonlt be high enough
In reply to Owen W-G:

I think they're going to be out of luck in the UK. Thinking a little laterally, could they use a bridge instead? The Humber bridge is 500 feet above the water.

Hey Owen

500 ft - 163 metres.....

Some of the chalk sea cliffs on the south coast are big enough with easy access but being near the edge at the top is a pretty major hazard.

Is there anything that fits the bill on gogarth?

I'm guess any kind of descent walk in would be unacceptable?

In reply to Owen W-G:

Hi Owen.

My sister worked on a BBC shoot doing exactly this a decade or so ago.
It involved a peregrine and a BASE cameraman.
I remember distinctly that it was shot on Anglesey, so Gogarth?
I don't know whether it was a success and if so what the programme was called, but somebody at BBC NHU might have some recollection of it and its location.

How about Henna on The Culm?

In reply to CurlyStevo:

Yes, Beachy Head 531ft according to Wikipedia. Easy to land at the base with a small boat.
Henna is high but not very vertical at the bottom.

Cliff Richard!
But I understand he's got the hump with the BBC.
