Hi All,

I'm quite new to climbing in the North Wales area, but I'm looking to do some climbing on the slate in Llanberis.

Basically I'm just wondering what routes people recommend (considering ill be introducing some friends to real rock for the first time!)

Any input is greatly appreciated!

cheers.

Get a guide book.

Find the grades you're able to do. Take your pick.
Personally, have enjoyed the trad much more than the sport on slate.
Plastic soldier 6a is good though.
Ps, it's dinowig, not llanberis.

PPS If you are going to be pedantic spell it correctly

If you are looking for a bunch of short routes with friendly grades bunched together then The Sidings level in Australia is a good place to start.
On some of the other levels in Australia there are some good routes dotted around such as:
Plastic Soldier (6a)
Clash of the Titans (6a)
Orangutang Overhang (6a+)
Steps of Glory (5a)
In reply to Jonah Sweeney:

All depends on grade.

If you're looking for easy access and don't want to go all the way in to Sidings or Skyline levels in Australia, there are several easy (4-6a) sport routes in Bus Stop Quarry along with classic top-ropable VS, HVS and E1 trad lines.

Get the GroundUp guide, it's really good and there are a ton of low-ish grade routes listed. If your mates are used to big juggy routes indoors they might be in for a bit of a surprise climbing on slate, good luck! : )

Or, indeed,"Vivian", although since there's no sport there below some tough 6a's it's probably not a place for first timers.
