Anyone here From Petersfield Hampshire?? where do you guys go to train?

I am desperate for somewhere to go early morning just to get an hour or two in each day before work.

I would love to find a way of funding/situating something like a moon board http://www.moonboard.com/ so if anyone has any ideas, recommendations or wants to join me on this mission quest thing... I would welcome the input.

You better get yourself a pair or rock rings and a fingerboard and a garage....
No natural rock to practice on.

There are a few indoor gyms within an hour or so of you but they won't fit your schedule (before work) due to travel commitment and opening times ( most don't open before 12pm).

High Sports, Alton Sports centre (Alton, http://www.high-sports.co.uk/climbing-walls/alton.html )
Craggy Island (Guildford, http://www.craggy-island.com/guilford-climbing-centre/overview )
Surrey Sports Park (Guildford, http://www.surreysportspark.co.uk/sports/Climbing )
Red Spider (fareham/portsmouth, https://www.redspiderclimbing.com/ )

Good luck.

Thanks alexanderjwatts its the garage part that eludes me presently! I have the rest

I thought highsports was going to close soon that's where i first started climbing. Iv been hitting redspider as much as I can but childcare, transport and work very much restricts the frequency. Picked the worst location to take up climbing!

I was trying to convince work to let us put up a moonboard in the grounds unsurprisingly the idea didn't go down so well

I know there is a very basic wall at Churchers college that you may be able to use if you ask them nicely but suspect it will be a bit of a ball ache timing wise unless you offer to coach the pupils in an after school club etc.

Edit: of course they may just say a flat no. I climbed there a couple of times with a teacher but not for a few years but recall some of the rules being a bit OTT (fine for kids and risk assessments etc)

Ahh cool thanks didn't know they had a wall. My sister went there and was rather well liked by the teachers I think. May see if I can get her to sweet talk someone

I'd have thought Fort Purbrook was nearest http://www.peterashleyactivitycentres.co.uk/peter_ashley_clubs-climbing_wal...

I haven't been there for donkey's years as the chalk storm + poor ventilation did my lungs in. But it appears to still be operating.

Thanks Dogwatch,
Yea its still there I do use the wall occasionally but its not much further to redspider to be fair and they have cake and ventilation!

That's a coincidence: I grew up in Grayshott, just up the road from you.

In addition to the recommended walls that people have suggested (e.g. Craggy, Purbrook etc..), I would also take alexanderjwatt's advice on board regarding a fingerboard in the garage. This, alongside some sort of basic TRX setup and a pull up bar, will give you access to finger + full body conditioning.

If you don't know how to use a fingerboard already, read up on it and take it steady. They have the potential to be the best and worst thing for you (i.e. really strong or really injured).

p.s. here's a link to the TRX setup I've got, there are cheaper ones available, but this one seemed good quality (and I liked the name...): http://www.henchgripz.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=107&am...
