Anyone know of any good companies - I've used Cotswold Cameras very successfully previously but they don't do the lense I want...

Thanks

I bought a 35mm Nikon lens from Hong Kong once. Never had a problem with it. Ever.

I often use Tronix-Computers on Ebay. Service has been great so far - though they generally specialise in more high end gear.
In reply to James Rushforth: thanks - I'll keep them in mind for future stuff but I'm after a Fuji Xf 100-400 lens and they don't seem to offer it either...

Digital rev? I bought my Lumix LX100 from them and I would use them again.

In reply to alimckay: Thanks but they're more expensive than uk stockists and with the Fuji cashback offer on at the moment significantly more expensive...,

How does warranty work and do you have to cross your fingers regarding import duty and VAT?

Friend got a £2100 lens which was described on import certificate as "Glass" and value as "$10". Uk customs seem totally blind to Chinese abuse of customs protocols.

fyi
Some insurers may not insure grey imports (if that matters to you)
Lots of UK retailers haven't changed prices to reflect brexit fx rates. Many grey importers have.
I found Sony to be cheaper via UK retailers (Sony UK have just done a ~10-15% price increase now though)

I was comparing to Panamoz btw

Have you tried Amazon.com, i saved a shed load on a couple of M4/3 lens's when they were on sale, you pay the import and tax up front to Amazon all rolled into the price

In reply to Indy:

Well the manufacturers won't honour their warranty on grey imports but with Digital Rev they give you their own warranty (I think 2 years). If you have a problem you can either send it back to them (Hong Kong I believe) or to a "local" repairer to have it repaired. I have no idea how well this works as so fair I have had no problems with my camera.

With import duty etc they just labelled it as a gift worth a small amount to avoid any taxes. You'll have to decide for yourself if this is morally right or worth the risks.

In reply to Indy:
Cotswold give their own 3yr warranty and use the same people as the insurance companies use for repairs. If you have to pay import duty you get a refund for it from Cotswold on sending a scan of the receipt - seemed to work fine
In reply to alimckay: see my reply to Indy - I paid the duty and got a refund from Cotswold Cameras

In reply to Dark-Cloud:
Have decided to go with Wex and then claim the Fuji cashback currently offered atmo seems cheapest way for now - cheers

Look on eBay. Check the seller ratings thoroughly.. Also check the item location. If it's in the UK there's no import duties due any way.

I saved about 500 quid on a lens this way. It was perfect, boxed, brand new but something on the box made me realise it was apparently for the Asian market. Basically no different to buying it from a shop in Japan if I had been over there.
