I am going to Bulgaria in March 17 and taking with me a group of 12.
Mostly beginners will be in attendance, has anybody been to Veliko Tarnavo (VT)?
Questions:
1. Suggested areas for beginners, either crags or climbs, preferably both?
2. Any other climbing areas suitable within 40min/1hr max from VT?
3. Any advice on kit for trip?
4. Costings for eating out?
5. Is there still a climbing shop in the town/ area?
6. Can anyone suggest how to get my hands on a copy of the local guide book before I go to country?
7. Do we need 4x4 for transport to crag locations? Or is a normal car sufficient?
8. Any issues with police, local youth, land owners?
9. Any suggested restaurants or nightlife spots in VT?
10. Cultural visit suggestions for a group of 12?
11. 50m or 60m single ropes?
12. Is English common or is there a language barrier?
13. Top 10 climbs at 4+ / 5 / 5+
