So I think there was a topic on this before, now archived.

Over the weekend I was climbing in Mallorca and a French mountain guide was using one with his wife. Asked to try it out. Seemed similar to Grigri 2 only slightly heavier and bigger. Main other differences were the anti-panic feature and a switch which he said was to use for bringing up a second (irrelevant as we were single pitching). It seemed slightly easier to feed slack fast without over-riding the mechanism.

Other than that I couldn't tell much difference vs Grigri 2. He also said (and by the look of him he was sponsored by Petzl) that the Grigri 2 would definitely remain available.

Anyone else used one and got any thoughts?

In reply to BGG:

Yeah the switch makes it easier/harder to feed out rope.

As far as I can tell it's a more durable grigri 2 aimed at centres and walls etc.
