Does anyone have any personal recommendations of places to stay in Kathmandu? Heading out in November and would appreciate any recent 1st hand knowledge. Trying to keep things resonably cheap

Off there on Monday and took pot luck on a place called Avaatar.....Will let you know how it is when we get back...

Admittedly 10 years ago, but we just turned up and took the taxi drivers recommendation. Nice place and cheap.

Depends what you mean by reasonably cheap. If you want somewhere very moderately priced in Thamel, then I liked the Thorong Peak Guest House when I stayed there. It's very central, clean etc, but anywhere in Thamel will be noisy.
