Which would you choose ?

Dolan every time. Apart from the fact that the Dolan has a nicer paint job, their after sales service is top notch. If you can, visit their warehouse/shop.

Paint job is a matter of personal taste surely?? I quite like the Planet X colour scheme.

I've not ridden either. Both are open moulds, but the feedback I have had from people who have is that the Dolan frame is very, very good. They certainly should know a good frame with the pedigree they have.

They seem to offer similar value for money in terms of spec, whichever one I chose I would want to visit the shop and ride the thing.

I have the Tuono but haven't tried the Planet X. I chose it due to the reviews, light weight (for hills) but stiff enough for me and wide range of frame sizes to get a good fit. I upgraded from my Ridley Compact (very good alu frame), the Tuono is even better to ride. I've heard that more burley riders who prefer to race on the flat prefer the Dolan Ares
