I'm looking for a new windproof softshell and was hoping for some suggestions.
Something similar to a Rab Vapour rise or an Arcteryx Alpha comp but slightly insulated too.
Thanks in advance for the help.

You can't beat the Arcteryx Gamma MX hoody. Outstanding bit of kit. Windproof, keeps you warm and mine has been totally abused for god knows how long and apart from the odd mark, is in great nick.

for my money the Rab VR lite alpine has been the best garment I ever bought. It's light enough that I wear it through the summer to keep the cold wind off but, in winter when moving, does the job aswell.

For stops etc. I have shunned boith my Alpkit and Mountain Hardwear down jackets (too hot) and now use a Uniqlo one that's almost on the edge of being too thin, but enough to keep me warm. And only cost £50.

You'd be hard-pressed to beat one of these - honestly. The velcro tabs on the cuffs are a touch stiff, but other than that it's as good as anything else around. £25 at the moment, so enough change for a new rope at least.
