Canon 6d folder options

I've searched all over the internet to no avail, so hoping the good and the wise of UKC can help me.

I have two cameras a Canon G7X, and a Canon 6D.

On the G7X card, the camera puts the images in monthly folders, e.g.

103__11 (=November)
104__12 (=December)

so these automatically created folders are numbered sequentially, with the month number after.

This is extremely useful, especially when synchronising folders in Lightroom, and for finding files.

However, I cannot get the 6D to do this, it just creates one folder: 'DCIM/100CANON' and puts every image in this one folder.

I really need the folders to be the same structure for both cameras, and I would also like to put images from both files in the same folder(s) rather than having two separate sets of folders on the hard drive for each camera.

Any suggestions please? I am wondering if Lightroom might do the job when synchronising, but I want to explore if the Camera can do it first.

In reply to Fredt:

As far as I know the Canon file numbering can't be changed in-camera. I use 5D's and haven't been able to do it. I just batch rename them when I take the images off the card?
