Brilliant to hear about people coming from overseas to enjoy British Sea Cliff climbing - especially coming back year after year!

I wonder where they will go next?! If any of you guys are reading these comments I'd suggest; Pembroke, Fair Head or Gogarth!

Or for adventurous try North Cornwall ! Actually I'm slightly prejudiced against Geermans on Hoy because when we finally stumbled into the Bothy all the sleeping benches were occupied by Germans

Fun to read a foreign perspective on some very British flavoured climbing. I bumped into a Swiss Guide on his home turf in the summer who was singing the praises of the Hebrides and Pembroke.

A really good article. The enthusiasm of the trip cam through very well and was complemented by some great pictures. I had a lovely holiday on Orkney myself a few years ago and reading this makes we want to go back soon.

I did not hear good things about the Bothy on Hoy , we stayed at the council run activity centre just up the hill from the Ferry, it was excellent ( granted we almost had the place to ourself. )

Nowt wrong with the Bothy except it was full ! Great spot. We would have been better if we had been prepared enough to take sleeping mats and some food (and beer) or organised accommodation in advance. We'd just been wildly over optimistic on our estimates of climbing times as a group of 3 in windy conditions.

Sometimes it was wicked talking to Scots about the beautiful rocks they have in the UK.
Anyway we met amazing people from all over on our trip and will come back for min a fourth time.

I has no idea there was a bothy. When we climbed the Old Man back in 1992, we bivvied out in the middle of nowhere as it got really dark on the walk back. When we woke we realised we were in someones front garden. Ha ha.
