I bought a pair of La Sportiva Baturas last summer. I've done fewer than 30 routes in them (one big alpine route, two short ones, the rest Scottish winter/Norwegian ice). After the last route (one of the short alpine ones) I found a hole in the rand and that the gaiter had worn through near my ankle.
I returned them to La Sportiva who sent them back with the hole in the rand glued and instructions on how to fix the gaiter using seamgrip. They also said that they consider this normal wear and tear.
Is this the case, that Baturas last fewer than 30 routes? I've not worn them to death (the sole still looks almost new) and I'm only posting to find how other people's Baturas have held up.
I'd like to argue the point with La Sportiva but I suspect I'll be fobbed off with 'normal wear and tear'. Shame, because other than this they are superb boots. Do I have any other options in terms of getting a refund/replacement?
