ps just to scotch any ideas that i might be slavishly following the judgment of the masses, i also have a soft spot for 'a spaceman came travelling', for some reason.

and it doesn't get any less cool than that...!

Still love this

follow it with Allegri's Miserere (but that's not Crimbly - though it s a song to sit in a winter bothy and drink whisky to)

That article's 4 years out of date so can't be used in a court of good taste.

Not really ' a Christmas' song , but Walking In The Air , from 'The Snowman' - 1982 is a firm favorite.

The original film version is sung by Peter Auty and not by Aled Jones who had a massive hit with it.

First day of Christmas tunes in at work today. I was singing along to "Lonely this Christmas" by Mud.
"Stop the Cavalry" is a favourite for me, love the horns in it. But my all time favourite is Shakey's "Merry Christmas Everyone", was a big fan of his as a kid and still have the 7" single I bought all those years ago.

This version is more appropriate to the season of over-consumption:

I know the idea of a Paul Simon Christmas song is a bit bizarre but....it's good.
