Natural Resources Wales has refused RWE Innogy Renewables UK's hydroelectric scheme application for the Conwy river - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-north-west-wales-38414906

The Daily Post newspaper says; "Anglers canoeists, businesses and environmentalists were all vehemently opposed to the development at Conwy Falls and Fairy Glen which is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest."

Fantastic news.
I remember reading that planning application. Notwithstanding the significant environmental impact, my take on it was that their impact assessment towards 'users' of the site was that as it wasn't a high volume tourist site, so a handful of anglers , and some elite canoeists were the only groups who would notice the changes.

It's worth a walk down there, just to see how special that place really is. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to stretch their legs - maybe on one of those 'can't be bothered to go out on the hill today' days..

Any way we can get that NT hydro monstrosity removed from the Stickle Ghyl?
