Report from a brief afternoon solo outing to Great End, approached from Wasdale.

Skew Ghyll:
Fully iced in the upper part, needed axes/crampons to exit. RH icefall was fully formed but not as fat as usual & not sure how well bonded to rock underneath (so did not solo it).

Window Gully:
Fully iced with neve in places (!) - done this many times & it was in top condition today. Top icefalls probably climbable, but a little thin. No sign of any other ascents.

Custs Gully (descent):
Full of deep snow but not banked out, had to downclimb a few steps. Would make a fine ascent in such conditions. Again, no sign of any other traffic.

Forecast for Sun/15 not good, but its not a meltdown either so next few days may yield sport in this area.

Hope this is helpful.

In reply to DSM:

Decided on Pinnacle ridge on St. Sundays due to updates and veiws when we arrived this morning (didn't look good) but very surprised with ice starting to form at 400 mtrs or so ! Few teams on pinnacle who, quite rightly, weren't using spiky stuff on a cracking day to be in the hills. Not looking good for Sunday mind :O(
