I'm planning a trip to Sicily in June and wondered if anyone had any advice on camping? It appears that there are many campsites on the island, but a lot look like the camper van and whole kitchen sink type of places. Are there any that cater for small tents, quiet, and have good facilities (a shower)? Clay

That´ s the way camping is on much of the continent, they don´ t go much on tents or camping in general. the normal clientele in Sicily is locals with motorhomes and Germans with motorhomes. We´ ve toured the island and either camped wild or in a normal campsite, no idea whether there are any other tent-only ones.

El bahira is a great campsite near san vito lo capo. The campsite caters for all types of camping and has good facilities including clean toilets and showers plus bar swimming pool and restaurant. you can walk directly to the climbing from your tent and there are free topos available also. well worth a visit

El Bahira is great - the crag literally skirts the campsite. They even floodlight part of the crag til midnight.
