Hi folks

After a week skiing in Austria, buckets of snow, bit depressing to find limited stuff to do here.
Any info on 2/3 Gully's on the Ben, or Glencoe (Broad, Boomerang etc) would be handy (if it stays just cold enough?)

Cheers

There is snow hiding in the gullies and E-facing corries, but not to any particular extent. The SAIS blogs are invaluable to check conditions. For example, this photo from a couple of days ago shows you the top of Broad Gully on Glencoe:

Having looked at Boomerang the other day, it will now be but a small patch.

There is some snow in the gullies on Ben Nevis but it is very rain-affected.

I was in No.2 today. It was very, very busy as other than No.3 and No.4 Gullies its about the only thing complete. Please be aware that there are 2 microwave sized blocks a pitch below the top just sitting in the snow. Today everyone there was aware and made efforts to keep their ropes running well left of these but it wouldn't take much for a rope to move these and anyone in the narrows below would be very, very lucky to survive. There's plenty of loose stuff on the walls too. Take care folks... http://alanhalewood.blogspot.co.uk/2017/01/in-no.html

Hi Al,

Thanks for the update - I'm amazed that the snow cover in your pictures looks so much better than the depressing SAIS Lochaber blog post from today?! http://lochaberblog.sais.gov.uk/2017/01/the-receding-snowpack/ I guess your photos are just taken a bit higher up?

Got any hope for the weekend?
