Hi has anyone been to Roca Alta at Vila Nova de Meia recently. Is there a recent guidebook available. I have seen this https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/book.php?id=1160 is available. But would like to know if it is any good or if it has been superseded. I have been to Roca des Arcs and it is Roca Alta I am particularly keen to know more about.
Thanks in advance.

This appears to have a 2013 edition, though I've no idea how well it covers Roca Alta - if at all; I'm sure someone will know though. I had a day there using the local guide which seemed fine - but 2007 isn't particularly recent!

You had a day at Roca Alta? Is it a good place?

The 2003 definitive guidebook is the most up-to-date printed matter, but if you google "ressenyes roca alta" this will take you onto the Catalan version of Google and reveal lots of info and printable topos, including routes established later than 2003.

The selected guide 'Lleida Climbs' doesn't have any info on this wall because the majority of routes need a trad rack.

I thought so. It was the first day of a five-day visit to Vilanova - having touched rock once in the preceding three months, so we [I] certainly didn't set the crag alight. Just did two routes - Porno Star and Amadeus; but don't expect me to remember much about them. We mostly had the crag to ourselves apart from some vultures, although being a thursday I don't suppose that's unusual; no idea where the vultures go for the rest of the week. Spent the other four days at Roca dels Arcs, and there was certainly no thought that "Oh - we should have come here first".

I should perhaps mention that the parking spot is quite isolated. I've no idea whether car crime is a problem there; all the locals we met were certainly very friendly, in particular some goats, and anyway such activities tend to be the work of outsiders - but it's probably a good idea to take the normal precautions.

Are you interested in any particular routes ? What sort of grades ? I have the 2003 guide. I'd scan a few pages for you if you know what you want info on.

The climbers bar in Vilanova may have topos for you to copy. Not sure if they still have guidebooks for sale as I haven't been there for many years.

Read somewhere that a new guide was due 2015 but doesn't seem to have appeared. I have scanned topos for some of the older 6a+/6b+ routes including Porno Star, Plurabel, Via Mantecas I can send if you email me.

Thanks for all the replies. I quite fancy Diedre Farreny. I will ask around my chums locally about the 2003 guide. If I am not succesful in that I will ask if I can take up one of the kind offers of a scan.
My partner has bought the 2012 guide but Roca Alta is not in.
To be frank one of the things I like about catalunya is that you have to try a bit harder to get info. All part of the fun.
