Complete guess, but it looks like Arran, and I guess the only thing it could then be is: Caisteal Abhail ? ? ?
 Rob Parsons 25 Jan 2017
In reply to Gordon Stainforth:

No Munros on Arran, Gordon.
In reply to Jamie Hageman:

Oops, I've just looked it up ... it's not a Munro

Funny I guessed that at first glance .

In reply to SenzuBean:
Yup, not only was I wrong, I was wrong AND late.

OK, is it looking West to Lurg Mhor from its Eastern Munro Top?

(Yes, I know McC has beaten me to this one, too)!

Final ridge up to A' Charlaig from the north.

Mullach Coire Mhic Fhearchair?

In reply to Jamie Hageman:

OK, the snow on the left but not the right suggests that corrie faces somewhere from NW to E, which probably rules out a few places (including my last guess, right enough).

You probably wouldn't be posting this if it wasn't a little bit surprising, so it's maybe an unusual route on a hill which is normally less interesting.

The rock is hard to be sure about, but I'm pretty confident it isn't one of the sedimentary rocks of the far NW, or a basic igneous rock (pretty much ruling out the islands).

I still don't know, though.

That's what I was about to say, but maybe too much snow for the date?

I like your analysis Skog. I was indeed pleasantly surprised by this aspect of the mountain. The 1:25,000 OS map does not show these rocky pinnacles in any detail.

I'm starting to think its North West round about Glen Shiel, Glen Affric.
Somewhere on the 5 sisters maybe? Don't think its the North Cluanie Ridge or the South Cluanie Ridge come to that.

I think that's in Wales.

Hmm - I had a 50% chance of typing the correct spelling, but after thinking about it (and not bothering to look it up) I went for the wrong one.

MARK BULL WINS

It is Aonach air Chrith!!

Well done, and there's your handshake.

Was that a guess or have you been there? It's an impressive ridge and would be fantastic under snow and ice. I'm definitely going back when the snow finally arrives for good.

Well done again Mark, and everyone else for playing along. Maybe someone else has a good photo they can carry this on with

Thank you!

> Was that a guess or have you been there?

I've not done it by that ridge, though I knew it existed. A semi-educated guess: the look of the geology suggested that area (my first thought was Mullach Fraoch-choire) but a bit of Googling turned up http://www.munromagic.com/MunroImages/magic2.jpg from http://www.munromagic.com/PictureGallery.cfm?Mountain=109&CFID=2986034&...

Were you aware that there was a large wolf/alsatian-like creature staring straight at you as you took the photo?
