Hi all,

After some climbing weekends last year my first real climbing holiday is coming up (Greece). The only bit of kit I'm missing is a rope.
As I'm a beginner and a bit on a budget I'd like to buy 1 rope I can use for outside sports climbing holidays as well as some trad climbing, while spending max E 180,-
I'm searching single dynamic ropes in the 70 m length, around 10 mm diameter range and have selected two ropes:

Edelrid Hero pro dry 9.8
Mammut Galaxy Protect 10.0

Any experience with these ropes or advice on a better suited one?

Cheers, Tinus

In reply to Tinus:

Why not try a triple rated rope. I use the Veal Joker. The unicore adds to the durability, after well over a year of abuse it's going stronger than either of my edelrid or mammut ropes. As the 70 you can double it and use it as double ropes on most single pitch trad. More bang for your buck.

I was in a similar position looking for a ~10mm 70m single rope on a budget, I read the recent mid range sport rope review, https://www.ukclimbing.com/gear/review.php?id=8722 , where the Eledrid Python came out on top, then discovered the rope for £67 at banana fingers https://www.bananafingers.co.uk/edelrid-python-10mm-ts-p-594.html

Used it a couple of weekends ago for the first time and it was great but time will tell over the summer.
