So i@m looking for a jacket/smock that is similar to this http://www.buffalosystems.co.uk/products/teclite-shirt/ in having a fairly windproof outer and a micro fleece lining. The reason i'm not buying another one is that the fit whilst fine for walking and running is pretty poor for scrambling/ climbing/ anything reachy in it being too tight across the back and too short in the arms.

I considered the Rab Vapour alpine https://rab.equipment/uk/vapour-rise-alpine-jacket/ however iread in a review that even in light breeze, the pertex equlibrium still let wind through. Has anyone else found this to be the case? Also i tried one of these on in XL and it fitted pretty perfectly

The ME ultratherm looks pretty good http://testedtodestruction.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/mountain-equipment-ultrat... however seems to have been discontinued.

So, does anyone know of a jacket/smock that has the same windrpoofing and level of warmth as the tectlite and ultramtherm but has the fit that will allow me to climb unrestricted.

Cheers
Andrew

In a light breeze? Rubbish.

I wore Rab Vapour Rise trousers walking to the South Pole with just a midweight powerstretch baselayer underneath, in winds of 50kmh+ and -25C and they were as good as completely windproof.

In the sense that only a membrane will be windPROOF (with terrible breathability) then all things like Pertex are just very wind-resistant, blocking something like 60-90% of the wind, depending on the fabric.

I'm pretty sure both Mountain Hardwear and Patagonia make fleece-lined woven-nylon shell type garments, though they're not common. Marmot Driclime is another one to look for, a proven design, not so popular anymore, but relatively cheap and practical for most.

Just don't get the Vapour Rise Light if you're worried about windproof-ness. I have it and it's great for mild, windy days exactly because it lets a fair bit of air in and out. I do have to stick a windshirt over the top if I stop for a while.
