The BBC are reporting that Mountaineering Scotland and the Scottish Gamekeepers Association have written to the Scottish Government to warn of the threat to the dramatic Scottish landscape of tree planting and regeneration. Does this reflect the views of UKC/UKH climbers, mountaineers and hill walkers?

No it would great, providing both timber and sustainable employment in the future. Even better if it spread South into the national parks of england & wales and moved them away from their preserving the Victorian Britain landscape policy.

Thanks yes. I was trying to gauge opinion without a primer biasing the answers I might receive. Personally very surprised by this letter, but am prepared to accept, that there may be a great number of people whose opinions I am totally unaware. Thus the thread.
