Brenta Via Ferrata September - do I need an ice axe/crampons?
I see that a number of the Brenta VF routes have short static glacier crossings - more patches of snow/ice than anything scary. Do you think I'll need to hoik my spikes along? or maybe just the crampons and rely on my poles which I'll have for my dodgy knees anyway? What about my boot chains, they can be very good on ice and snow.
Have you been? Whadya think?
I did one of the traverse routes in September like three years ago.
Assuming you'll have hiking poles with metal tips (which I did), then I would not bring an ice axe.
But for my feet I'd bring at least "Micro-Spikes" or similar -- or crampons to be more sure.
