Hi

I am off for a non climbing trip to La Gomera soon, and Im trying to sort my holiday insurance. There is a plethora of options available. Many now offer "gadget" cover. Sounds sensible, but after a brief look today, they appear to offer limited cover, to the tune of a few hundred pounds. Nor really enough to cover items like my ipad. Does anyone have experience of arrange such cover and have any recommendations, that does not break the bank.

Thanks

I switched my house contents insurance to the AA, specifically because in the small print it covers 'camping equipment' whether at home or temporarily removed.

When my TN quasar ECT tent broke a pole in a winter storm while camping high in the caingorms they gave me a complete new replacement tent. (I patched up the old tent and gave it to my daughter).

The BMC insurance wouldn't even have covered the tent as they have a limit of £250 per item - and they would probably have quibbled over the wisdom of camping in such conditions.

First, check the details of your home contents insurance - you may well find your gadgets are already covered away from home.

As far as general holiday insurance goes, I've always used a company called Voyager - http://www.voyagertravelinsurance.co.uk

I use STA Travel Insurance, really good cover, up to 3000m and a huge array of sports and activities. Gadget cover is pretty good as far as I remember.
